Susan Brown's artwork reflects an eclectic interest in portraiture, architecture, transportation, and landscapes. Most of her work is based on her prodigious memories of actual events and life experiences. Her pieces are included in numerous private and corporate collections.
Susan,
who has autism, attends the Pure Vision Arts studio in New York City.
She began drawing at 5 years old before she had a language other than
made-up words. She was encouraged by family members who were artists.
Susan's first drawings were of spirals, women, and cars. She began her
grid-like drawings in the 1980s, at a time when she was working at
Friendly's restaurant as a dishwasher. She started painting on
cardboard at this time because it was a material that was readily
available. Susan, who was born in 1957 on Long Island, currently lives
in Sayville with her mother.
