Daniel Monrose's recent work has included commissioned portraits of animals and people as well as a series of still lifes, landscapes, and animals drawn from his imagination. He usually works in pastels or colored pencil from photographs of his subjects. In 2003, Daniel made his debut at the 11th-annual Outsider Art Fair. Sixteen of his drawings were featured in an exhibition of talented artists with developmental disabilities entitled Diverse Faces, Diverse Cultures at Pace University Art Gallery. The exhibition, mounted in 2002, was curated and organized by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Daniel currently lives with his father in Queens and attends The Shield Institute's Supplemental Day Habilitation Program in Flushing, New York. He also attends the Pure Vision Arts studio in Manhattan.
