Simone Johnson
All of the artists represented by
PVA are self-taught. Many have refined their craft independently over the years, in institutions, day
programs, or group residences. Others were encouraged to develop their artistic talents by family
members or friends. While attending Pure Vision Arts, some artists work on commissioned pieces while
others are busy creating a body of work for sale or exhibition.

Simone Johnson
Simone
is a 35 year old woman who currently lives in Staten Island with her brother
and sister in law. She began attending Pure Vision Arts in 2006 when her art
teacher recognized her talent and wanted to find a place for her to further
develop her potential. Simone loves making what she refers to as stained glass
church art using colored pencils. They are very colorful and geometric designs
combined with symbols which include hearts, stars, and crosses. Her work often
includes words embedded in her designs such as love, belly dance, friendship
and passion. Simone's work was exhibited in her first group show called Urban
Visionaries at Pure Vision Arts in January and she was delighted to sell her
first drawing. Her work will be included in an upcoming exhibition at the
Marlborough gallery in June. In addition to drawing Simone also takes belly
dancing classes and performs with a belly dance company in Manhattan.
